Martina McBride’s song “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” has become an anthem for anyone going through a tough time.

Although it was released in 2011, the song has recently resurfaced in a very public way with two viral videos… one featuring the PS22 choir singing to their teacher battling breast cancer and the second with 4-year-old McKenna singing the song to her mom, Dianna, who has stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

PS22 made its way to The View, where McBride surprised their teacher by joining the students for their performance.

She also surprised Dianna on The Ellen DeGeneres Show by coming out to sing with McKenna on the show.

CountryMusicIsLove caught up with the powerhouse vocalist in Nashville on Oct. 21 at Musicians On Call’s Rock The Room Tour kickoff to talk about the song’s impact and its recent reemergence into the spotlight.

“’I’m Gonna Love You Through It,’ I realized that it’s just one of those songs. It’s one of those songs that people related to and I don’t know where it’s gonna go, but its amazing to me that five years later or whatever it is, the song is still coming up and people are still being inspired by it and I think that’s just a testament to a great song,” McBride told us. “And I feel lucky that I found it and that I was the one that got to sing it.”

She also addressed the song during her performance at the Musicians On Call event, dedicating it to anyone going through a tough time. “I’m going to do this song tonight for all of the fighters in the room and all of the survivors,” she told the sold-out crowd.

McBride is currently working on a new studio album, her first with her new label home, Nash Icon.
