Taylor Swift Has Top-Grossing Tour of 2011

The numbers are in – and the top-grossing tour of 2011 belongs to Taylor Swift.

According to StubHub, Taylor’s “Speak Now” tour outsold every other tour, including ones from artists like Katy Perry, Paul McCartney, and New Kids on the Block.

U2 came in second, with Lady Gaga in third. In fact, it was a good year for country overall: Kenny Chesney’s highly successful “Goin’ Coastal” grabbed fourth.

It’s not surprising, due to Taylor’s popularity. She went across the country, hitting 98 cities to sing songs from her third album. Other artists from country and pop – Tim McGraw, Justin Bieber, and Usher, just to name a few – joined her on a few stops along the way.

She also nabbed the most popular music event of 2011 in Atlanta, Hartford, Conn., and Orlando, based on gross ticket sales per capita.

For those of you who missed out, the tour Is available for purchase as a CD/DVD combo pack (or if you want to relive the record-breaking experience!). Later this week, Swift will finish up her “Speak Now” tour in Australia and New Zealand. This comes after wrapping up a few tracks for “The Hunger Games” soundtrack and voicing a character in “The Lorax.” 2012 is proving to be another busy year for Taylor!
