Billy Currington Covers ‘Georgia On My Mind’

Country hitmaker Billy Currington recently kicked off his Summer Forever Tour, which is taking him to more than 20 cities throughout the spring.

Over the weekend, the tour brought Currington back to his home state of Georgia. To celebrate his homecoming, the singer covered one of the most iconic songs about the “Peach State.”

“If there was ever a place to play this song, it’d be here in Macon, Georgia,” Currington told the crowd before singing the opening lines of “Georgia On My Mind.” The song, which is the official song of the state of Georgia, was first made famous by Ray Charles, who recorded it on his 1960 album, The Genius Hits The Road.

The cover was an instant hit with fans. They erupted with cheers as soon as he started singing.
