If this is any indication of how our Boots & Hearts weekend is going to go, we're in for a treat.

We’ve headed down to Canada for the 2016 Boots & Hearts Music Festival, which is celebrating their 5th year this weekend! With big names on their lineup, such as Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw and more, we know this will be a festival for the books.

To start the celebrations we headed to Boots & Bourbon, a country bar in Toronto for an intimate set with the 2015 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist winners, James Barker Band. The band won the contest last August, and have already made a name for themselves in the country music, with their hit track “Lawn Chair Lazy.”

As the band finished performing that very track for a very packed room, they started playing another song the crowd found quite familiar. It was Dierks Bentley’s “Somewhere On A Beach.” Now the crowd was happy with a cover from JBB, but what happened next blew everyone’s minds. Bentley himself, appeared on the side of the stage and walked directly onto it:

Next, Bentley admitted to having a few drinks prior to taking the stage and looked confused as why a water was left beside his mic stand. “What is this clear substance?” he asked the crowd, handing a bottle of H20 to a fan. The fan replied by handing Bentley her cider. Though we thought he wouldn’t settle for anything less than beer, Bentley took a swig of the fan’s cider, sharing a laugh with the crowd. Once Bentley was up on stage, he was ready to stay!”You can get drunk on a lawn chair” he said to the crowd before be began, building the perfect segue into his single, “Somewhere On A Beach.” The collaboration continued for “Drunk On A Plane,” and “I Hold On.”

After finishing their set, the crowd cheered for another song and Bentley only agreed to do so if it wasn’t one of his own tracks. A brief chat with James Barker, and the two unexpectedly took on John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold” to end the night! And what a night it was!

If this is any indication of how our Boots & Hearts weekend is going to go, we’re in for a treat.
