Garth Brooks Talks Tour, Performs New Single on ‘Ellen’

Last time Garth Brooks took a seat on those white couches at the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he made a huge career announcement that he would be coming out of retirement to play some shows for his most devoted fans. Years later, the country superstar returned to talk about his upcoming tour and get a little candid about his love life with his wife on Friday (Oct. 21).

During his visit to the popular daytime talk show, Brooks told DeGeneres about how genuinely nervous he was about coming back into the country music game and even admitted that he was unsure about the shows he set up during that time. Minutes within the first show going on sale, Brooks told the host that he got the call about the fact he had been selling out date after date.

“My retiring days are behind me! I could do this until they throw me out,” he joked. The current CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee also discussed with DeGeneres how excited and lovely it is to have his wife, Trisha Yearwood, join him out on the road. Praising her for her all-loving presence, Brooks looked happily in love even after the many years together.

“Honey, it’s smart to bring that woman anywhere,” Brooks said. “Woo, I don’t know what it is, but every day, it gets better and I just love her. Sweet woman.”

Before performing his newest single, “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance,” DeGeneres hilariously interrogated the country star over the song’s meaning, for which he just blushed his way through every answer. Brooks then took the stage to play his current radio track as well as the old fan favorite, “Friends in Low Places.”

Brooks will be releasing his 11th studio album of his career, Gunslinger, on November 28 and a joint Christmas album, Christmas Together, with Yearwood on November 11.
