Home is where the heart is, so Keith Urban went back to where he gained his footing in the video for “Coming Home.”

While trapped by the blaring sirens and bright lights of a big city, Urban finds himself alone and jaded by the busy landscape outside. The singer tries to escape the madness in his mind, but it’s never enough compared to the chaos echoing on the other side of his window. Directed by Andy Hines, Urban just let the song take its course and follow the lead on his dreamlike treatment that he created.

“The concept for the video was really Andy Hines’ idea,” said Urban.  “He suggested the heightened reality that we see in the video, which keeps it more like a dream – an idea, more than an actuality.  It was also important to have Julia there – she’s great energy to be around and I love singing with her, so I wanted us to be on stage at the same time to capture that.”

“There’s a place that I know where they all know me…”

Julia Michaels made her own cameo while singing side-by-side with Urban at a local dive bar when he finally runs away to a safe place, in which she made the most of her country music experience by soaking up every moment she could with the star.

“Being on set with Keith was magical. He’s a rare person on and off set—full of love and positive energy.  He surrounds himself with likeminded people such as his band who were incredible as well. I’m grateful to be a part of this video and grateful to be able to call this kickass human, a friend,” Michaels gushed over her collaboration partner.

The duet, like the message of the song, brings him high hopes of the life he once knew and admires to this very day. Although the world outside may get a little crazy, he can rely on the beauty of his upbringing to send him back to earth.

“Coming Home” among other songs can be heard live when Urban hits the road with Kelsea Ballerini this summer on the Graffiti U Tour.
