We’re not crying, you’re crying!

On August 27, Lonestar headed to sound check for a show at the Brooklyn Fair in Brooklyn, CT when lead singer Richie McDonald noticed a girl in the audience who was visibly upset.

The band later discovered that the girl, Cecilia, was in mourning over her father, who had recently died and was a huge fan of the award-winning group. Her story touched the band so deeply that when they saw her during their show later on, they pulled her onstage for a beautiful moment.

Initially, McDonald handed the girl a hat and autographed shirt, but that wasn’t all he had in store for her.

“So Cecilia was one of those 12 people that was at sound check today and couldn’t help but notice her out here. We were singing some songs and she had tears in her eyes. We got her up here and took a picture with her and we asked her what was going on and she said that her dad had passed away. James passed away and she said we were one of his favorite bands. And so, I just thought this could be a moment for you and your dad tonight,” McDonald said as the music started for “I’m Already There” and she broke into tears.

“I don’t know how I’ll make it through this song, but I couldn’t think of a better song to do…”

The moment closed to a standing ovation from the crowd as Cecilia made her way off the stage and the show continued.
