After six tumultuous seasons, CMT’s Nashville has its final curtain call. Longtime fans will bid adieu to show favorites Charles Esten, Hayden Panetierre, Lennon & Maisy, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and many others when the finale airs on Thursday, July 26.
Since its debut, fans have been put through the ringer with drama, losing the main character Rayna Jaymes when Connie Britton departed the show and a cancellation in season four by ABC. The drama continued when the show found a second life on CMT and ran for another two seasons. Knowing how much the show played with viewers’ emotions, Esten couldn’t help but be grateful for fans who invested in their stories.
“We have always been a show… from the very beginning, there were people that were just hooked and they climbed on the train and it was not an easy show to jump off no matter what we took you through,” he shared during the 2018 CMA Music Festival. “We took you on some hard bends and some hard turns. We understand that. We understand that losing Rayna James and Connie Britton, that was a challenge for fans and we are so grateful for everybody that stayed the course and stayed with us to discover the same thing that people are discovering in real life, which is ‘How do you go on? You lose that love of your life. You lose the one you though you would always be with. How do you go on?’”
