Alabama to Release First New Christmas Album in 21 Years
American Christmas, featuring 15 newly recorded songs, will be available October 6.
It is not even Halloween yet, but country music fans are already gearing up for the holiday season as their favorite artists announce plans to release Christmas music.
Alabama fans are in for a holiday treat as the band releases their first newly recorded Christmas album in 21 years. American Christmas is due out October 6.
“To all our fans: Christmas is a special time for Alabama. We hope it is for you. From our hearts to you, we give you this Christmas gift. Thank you for the love and support, all these years,” said Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen, “Merry Christmas!”

Alabama set up shop in Nashville to record 15 tracks, including holiday favorites such as “Away In A Manger,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “Silent Night” and “Jingle Bells.” The trio also wrote four new original holiday tunes to feature on the album. Longtime fans can update their music library with a brand-new recording of the band’s holiday hit “Christmas in Dixie,” which turns 35 this year.
American Christmas follows the best-selling band’s critically acclaimed album Southern Drawl, which was their first newly recorded album in over a decade.
Alabama’s American Christmas is available for pre-order now. The album can be purchased at Cracker Barrel and other retailers, as well as all digital music retailers.
The news of the legendary band’s Christmas album comes just months after the group’s Jeff Cook revealed his battle with Parkinson’s disease. As a result of his diagnosis, Cook retired from the road earlier this year to focus on his health.
