Blake Shelton Gets Spooked By Julie Bowen on ‘The Ellen Show’
She got him good!
Any guest appearing on daytime’s The Ellen Show is bound to get a good scare from the prank-loving host. Whether it’s someone sneaking up behind or jumping out of a table, surprises are never off the table.
Country crooner Blake Shelton got spooked during his recent appearance on the hit talk show, as Modern Family’s Julie Bowen surprised him by jumping out of a nearby table. But while DeGeneres and Bowen had things laid out, their mission didn’t go according to plan.
During his interview that covered this season of The Voice, Shelton sat back in his car with his arm hanging over the armrest. As the interview continued, DeGeneres had to come up with some way to get Shelton to move his arm from over Bowen’s hiding spot. That’s when things got “serious.”
The host leaned forward, telling Shelton they had to talk about something important. She asked about his plans to marry his longtime girlfriend and fellow recording artist Gwen Stefani. That’s when Bowen leaped into action. Surprised by the new body next to him, Shelton jumped and quickly began laughing at the situation. Both Bowen and DeGeneres had to explain that the scare was supposed to come much earlier, but Shelton was in the way.
In a later segment, DeGeneres spoke to Shelton about his role in the new Ugly Dolls movie and also encouraged him to propose to Stefani. Previously gifting Jennifer Lopez and A. Rod with a similar present, DeGeneres handed Shelton over a clock to tell him time is running out for his proposal to the No Doubt frontwoman and he’d better get a move on.
