Blake Shelton Surprises Fans with Pop Up Show at Ole Red Nashville

You never know who might show up at the honky tonks in downtown Nashville. Fans were treated to a superstar-sized surprise when Blake Shelton announced that he’d be taking the stage in his bar, Ole Red, for a last minute pop-up show.

Announced Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 23, Shelton and the venue teased his unscheduled performance on Twitter, giving fans enough time to make it to Lower Broadway in the hopes of getting a wristband to get inside. Once entry was guaranteed, fans were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime performance from the “Turnin’ Me On” singer.

Throughout the night, Ole Red kept fans unable to make it to the show informed with posts to Instagram. Among them,  a clip of the country crooner singing his hit “Ol’ Red” to the packed house.

According to The Tennessean, Shelton played for two hours, creating a set list from audience suggestions. He let them in on the news that he’s in the studio recording new music and decided that while he was in town, he should play a show.

“I swear that’s why we’re down here,” he shared (quote via The Tennessean). “We’ve got a tour about to start up, so it doesn’t hurt for me relearn some of my old stuff. There’s a good chance I could screw some of this up tonight. But who cares, man? Get a drink. Get me a drink. Get them a drink. Let’s just have some fun.”
