Carly Pearce has been hitting the studio hard recording new songs for her sophomore album. While fans have gotten a taste of what to expect from her new single, “Closer To You,” the Kentucky native is letting a special album secret spill… her fiancé Michael Ray is singing on the record.

The collaboration made perfect sense for the singer, who admits that they two find common ground when it comes to tackling their musical careers.

“To be able to say he’s a guest on my album, and in my [‘Closer to You’] music video – I never thought in a million years I would be marrying another artist, but now it makes so much sense,” explained Pearce in an interview with PopCulture.com. “I never thought I would find an artist that is so similar in the way that they approach their career, and their life like he does. He’s just awesome.”

Ray singing on her album isn’t the only secret Pearce has opened up about in recent days. She recently shared that Jake Owen will sing at their wedding, but only after Owen spilled the beans during a radio interview on the Bobby Bones Show.

“This was something that was really flattering for me,” Owen said of Ray asking him to sing during his chat with Bones. “I’ve never been asked to do anything like this, and I didn’t know I was a wedding singer. I was at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and during that time, Michael Ray was there, and I played that night on stage, ‘Made for You.’ Afterwards, Michael came up, and he was like, ‘Man, I don’t know how to ask you this. This is kind of weird, but Carly and I love that song. If you’re in town, will you play it at our wedding?'”

“I’ll be honest,” he continued. “I was overly flattered, and I will 100 percent do it for them, because I will be in town. I already marked it off my schedule. They’re great people, great artists, great singers.”

“I read on a tweet just now that on the Bobby Bones Show that Jake Owen has announced that he’s singing at Michael and my wedding for our first dance, and that is true, but I didn’t want that to be known,” admitted Pearce. “It’s sweet and it’s awesome, and I’m very grateful that people want to go along on this ride with us, but it’s funny for us to kind of decide what do we want people to know, what do we want to keep special for the day – that kind of balance of what we want to keep private.”

Though the couple may have wanted to keep some things private, they did recently share that their save-the-dates were mailed out and will likely wed before the end of 2019.

Both have busy summers ahead between wedding planning and touring. Pearce will take part in Jason Aldean’s Ride All Night Tour, while Ray will headline a slew of his own dates for his Nineteen Tour.
