Carly Pearce got the surprise of a lifetime when her name was announced as the winner of the Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2018 CMT Music Awards. The accolade came after years of dedicated hard work, honing her craft and hoping that one day, fans and the industry would see it too.

Now, with a No.1 single under her belt, an opening slot on four major country tours and an award to boot, the singer is finally seeing her dreams come true.

“This is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” said Pearce as she reflected on her big CMT Awards win during an interview with Sounds Like Nashville and other media during the 2018 CMA Music Festival. “I think when you don’t get something as quickly, maybe as you thought you would, and you have to put in blood, sweat, tears and wine, it really does humble you to cherish every single second. I’m so grateful and want people to understand that they did this for me. The country music fans did it. And I’ll never, ever, ever stop thanking them, because they’re giving me the privilege of living my dreams.”

The opportunity to thank fans for embracing her ballad “Every Little Thing” was so special for the Kentucky native, but the icing on the cake was getting one more ‘thank you’ in to the man who broke her heart.

“I got to thank him on national television. I’ve dreamt of that for so long. So that was great,” she said with a smile.

As for what she’s going to do with her new trophy, Pearce admits that she’s got an “Every Little Thing” wall, dedicated to the little song that could.

“So, I have a wall. I live alone, which is good because I think people would be obnoxious if they lived with me,” she laughed. “I took all of my artwork that was on my wall down and even though it’s the same photo of me, the same information, I’ve put up every single number one plaque that any person has gave me. And I’m going to stick [the award] on the ‘Every Little Thing’ wall as the cherry on top for that wall.”

Pearce will celebrate her many successes as she continues her run on Rascal Flatts’ Back To Us Tour, before embarking on Luke Bryan’s What Makes You Country Tour later this year.
