Who knew a bright-eyed teenager with a huge goal set in her mind would one day end up with nominations aplenty and a No. 1 song on country radio? Carly Pearce only imagined the day her aspirations would come into fruition as a young lady, but now she can finally tell her former self she made it.

After celebrating her birthday to her heart’s content, Pearce settled down and read a handwritten note sent to her by her parents that happened to be from her 14-year-old days. From the first couple lines, it looked as though Pearce was on a mission from the get-go to follow her dream in country music and become the next big thing in the genre no matter what it took to reach that point.

Y’all have made me feel SO loved today on my birthday. My sweet parents sent me this letter that I wrote to myself when I was 14 & wanted me to read it today. Birthdays are a time to celebrate, to reflect & to dream. Like all of us, I’ve had some years that were amazing and some that were so hard I wished at the time I could’ve skipped right over them. No matter the year, one thing has always stayed the same… my dream and LOVE of country music. It sends chills to every part of my body reading these little words of a wide eyed, innocent 14 year old who had nothing but a dream. I wanted to share this with you all because lately I feel like every day is my birthday. I am truly that happy. That kind of happy right before you make the wish and blow the candles out. THIS has ALWAYS been that wish for me. Thank you for making it come true. Hi, 28. I am excited to see what you have in store. 😁❤️ [swipe right]

Noting the courage and dedication it takes to achieve such moments, Pearce knew from a young age that she would have to “push myself” and “share my voice with the world” in order to accomplish everything she wanted. Thankfully, the time has finally come for the singer and she could not be prouder for everything she’s gone through.

I ❤️ you #opry–loved singing on my favorite stage tonight
