Cheers to Carrie Underwood’s New Sunday Night Football Anthem
It seems as if Carrie Underwood has a new Sunday Night Football anthem to sing.
Say goodbye to “Oh, Sunday Night” and hello to “Game On.” It looks as if Carrie Underwood and the NBC team have come up with a new anthem for the 2018 Sunday Night Football season. The Oklahoma native and SNF teased the new song with a video to Instagram, sharing just a brief clip of the singer in the studio belting out the lyrics.
“It’s Sunday night / America’s game on NBC / the home, the place to be / game on, game on / it’s Sunday night,” she sings in the teaser video over clips from prior football seasons.
The change marks the second time Underwood has performed a new song for the annual event. From 2013-2015, the singer performed “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” set to Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” The track appeared as the theme song for Sunday Night Football from 2006-2015 with both P!nk and Faith Hill singing it previously. She then switched to “Oh, Sunday Night,” a football-themed version of her Miranda Lambert collaboration “Somethin’ Bad.”

NBC is gearing up for a big kick-off this year, releasing tidbits about the upcoming 2018 season. The network recently announced the 10 stand-out NFL players appearing in the clip, including Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff*, Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins*, New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley*, Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz*, Philadelphia Eagles OT Lane Johnson*, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz*, Philadelphia Eagles DT Fletcher Cox*, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown and Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (*denotes debut in the SNF opening).
This year will mark Underwood’s sixth time singing for SNF.
Sunday Night Football returns September 9.
