Country stars are using their voices to express themselves following this weekend’s events in Charlottesville.

On Saturday (8/12), a large group of white nationalists flooded the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia, for their “Unite the Right” protest against the taking down of Robert E. Lee statue in town. Counterprotesters clashed against the right-wing groups, causing random eruptions of violence. During one of the breakouts, a car sped straight ahead into a crowd of people, killing one and injuring at least 19 others. The suspected driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash, but has now been arrested by police.

Another tragedy from the quaint college town ensued as two Virginia State Troopers died after a helicopter crashed in a forested area nearby. While there are no connections to the chaos from inside the city at this point, police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Amidst all of the tensions, many country stars took to their social media pages to give their own takes on the current events. While a good majority questioned the hate bubbling up in the world, others remembered the victims and sent love to Charlottesville.
