Hello summer and hello to this kick-ass collaboration. Danielle Bradbery has a brand new single and it’s a reinterpretation of her song “Hello Summer.” The singer, joined by her friend and labelmate Thomas Rhett, released “Goodbye Summer” as a collaboration just months after debuting a solo version on her latest project I Don’t Believe We’ve Met.

“Thomas Rhett was one of the first mentors I had in Nashville and we’ve become really good friends over the years. He’s like a big brother to me, so to be able to record a song he wrote was incredibly special,” shared Bradbery in a press release. “I remember when I first heard the demo, I actually jammed to it with Thomas Rhett’s vocal on it as if it wasn’t even going to be mine. Now to have the opportunity to re-record the song with him–it’s a dream scenario.”

“It’s been fun watching this song evolve since I first recorded the demo,” added Rhett, who co-wrote the song with Rhett Akins, Julian Bunetta and the Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston. “Danielle’s voice really took it to another level, and I’m pumped that we got the chance to team up on a new version. It’s always a blast getting to create with your friends.”

Missing being out on the #hometeamtour this weekend!!! Xoxo 💛🎉💃

Bradbery had been teasing the news, sharing minimal details including a photo of herself with her duet partner standing side by side. Bradbery faced the camera with a sweatshirt that read “Hello Summer.” while Rhett stood with his back to the frame in a matching sweatshirt that read “Goodbye Summer.”

The two have long been co-writers, having a cut on Danielle’s record with the song “What Are We Doing.” The two also previously teamed up on a remake of Rhett’s Jordin Sparks collaboration, “Playing With Fire,” with Bradbery performing it on Rhett’s Home Team Tour.

“Goodbye Summer” will hit country radio on Monday, August 27.
