New Dierks Bentley music will officially get on its way into stores and digital platforms everywhere now that the release date for early June has been set.

The country star plugged into The Mountain by heading to the great outdoors himself with a few co-writers and his producer. Digging in deeper than previous projects, Bentley let the woodsy atmosphere take over his creative process and shape the record into a grittier yet authentic product that took the singer on quite the journey.

“The album pulled me through the paces,” Bentley explained in an article from Entertainment Weekly. “[It] had its own dharma; it knew what it wanted to be. It was my job to just facilitate that process and stay out of the way.”

Thinking about sending a ninth album filled with nostalgic memories of wildlife vacations growing up and a bluegrass feel that captured Bentley’s heart many years ago, the Arizona native reflected on his former identity before fame became a thing in his life for other aspects of the album.

“I look back on myself and I have a lot of compassion for that guy,” the singer said of his persona before reaching success in the music business. “He’s trying to make it and he’s going through the machine of Nashville and just the hair and the alcohol…it’s such a tough business. One thing that never suffered was the work. I’ve always been afraid to not put the work in. I was too nervous that things wouldn’t work out.”

Fans already heard a taste of what’s to come from Bentley when he released the first single, “Woman, Amen,” out to radio. A powerful anthem to say the least, Bentley hopes it sets the path for what else will lie upon The Mountain in just a few months’ time.

The Mountain, Bentley’s next album, will be available on June 8.
