If you’re obsessed with organization queen Marie Kondo and her Netflix series Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, you’re not alone. Fans quickly fell in love with her organizing techniques, dumping items that no longer spark joy and folding socks into small bundles. Her KonMari methods have even caught the attention of Dierks Bentley, who admits to ‘tidying up’ thanks to Kondo’s help.

After getting stuck inside for days and days of rain in Nashville, Bentley discovered the show and dove right in to adopting a clutter free lifestyle.

“This whole tidying lady from Japan [has] changed my life. It’s like, ‘This is actually a great time to go through your crap, Dierks,’” he admitted.

After becoming inspired by Kondo, Bentley cleared out his closet, keeping only the most meaningful items around.

“It’s down to about zilch. I took a video of my closet. I have socks this way and then one more time, then you roll them up, swirl on top. I do the whole thing. I blessed it on the way out… As a country singer, you gather so much… I mean I get these bracelets, I get these military coins, I get these hockey jerseys with my name on the back of them. I’m not a big shoe person, I’m not a car person. I wear the same clothes pretty much all the time. I just have extra stuff around and it drives me crazy,” he shared.

“Then you have kids and I do a lot of laundry in my house. I’ve realized the less… I hide towels from my wife. We have seven white towels. I’m like, we only need five. I hide those because that’s less stuff that’s going into the laundry and then if they’re hidden long enough you can get rid of them,” he added with a laugh. “But [Kondo’s] amazing. I’ve gotten through books. Clothes, books and then it’s mementos and stuff. That’s going to be really hard. Letters and stuff. I’m all about Kondoing everything. Kondonizing my house.”

While Bentley’s home is clutter free, he’s likely picking up more than a few mementos while out in his headlining Burning Man Tour.

Tidying Up With Marie Kondo is currently on Netflix.
