When Kalie Shorr found herself in a toxic relationship with a man who never lifted her up, she got out as soon as she could to find true love with someone new as told in her song, “Two Hands.”

Marking the second track on her highly anticipated Awake EP, Shorr shared a sneak preview of what to expect from “Two Hands” in a retro-inspired supercut with the singer explaining her truth behind the lyrics. Comparing the negativity of the former relationship to that of a bright future in the romance department, Shorr looked gorgeous as ever while she addressed the transitions from insecurity to happiness.

“He told me I was too much,” she reveals first while sitting solo at a bar, looking out into the crowd. “You think I’m just enough.”

Reflecting upon all of the sweet things her special someone does for her now compared to anything from the past, Shorr definitely feels the appreciation from all sides even when her man may playfully joke around with her. He accepts her how she is, and doesn’t let her lose sight of herself despite what she may have known in previous times.

Just like the track, “Two Hands,” Shorr always stuck to her guns and let her vulnerability unfold into her debut masterpiece. Reflecting upon some of her shining and stirring moments throughout the creative process of this project, the newcomer never wanted to stray from the emotions she felt in every song sampled on the EP.

“Sometimes, this industry makes you second guess yourself. It might not even mean to — there are just so many opinions and it’s easy to try to please everyone. This project is the first time I’ve tuned everything else out but my own gut feeling on who I am and what makes me unique,” Shorr said of her forthcoming music.

Shorr’s EP, Awake, will be released on Friday, January 26, with pre-order links available now.
