Garth Brooks Releases First Single from New Album, Announces Pearl Harbor Performances
Seems like Brooks has got a lot going for him, including the release of his 11th studio album and these two special performances at the Hawaiian war memorial.
Country superstar Garth Brooks is making sure his year goes out with a huge bang by releasing the first single off of his 11th studio album and announcing that he will be playing a few shows at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
The CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee is coming into the season strong by sending the track, “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance,” to country radio for airplay to lead up to the anticipated release of his latest studio album, that will come out by the end of this year. Brooks co-wrote the song with close colleagues Victoria Shaw, Kent Blazy, Kim Williams and Steve Dorff and he could not be more excited to bring it out to the fans who have been waiting for some new music from the singer.
“’Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance’ was just a fun title that Kent Blazy has had in his book of titles forever, always threatening to write it,” said Brooks. “So one day Kim, Kent and I sat down and wrote it. We got a little help from Steve Dorff and then Victoria Shaw finished it. In the middle of this, Kim Williams passed away. I’ve got to tell you, I love love love this song, but probably my greatest joy is the fact that this is a Kim Williams song. Not only did it make this record, it’s the first single off this record.”
Brooks also took the time to announce that he and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, will be playing a couple acoustic shows over at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in commemoration of the 75th year since the attack at Pearl Harbor. This marks the first time that Brooks has ever performed in the island state and doing it acoustic will mirror his shows much like that of his Las Vegas Wynn concerts. The proceeds made from those two performances on December 10th will all go to four organizations that assist with the preservation of the area and will give back to the historical significance of the memorial.
Tickets for the Pearl Harbor shows will go on sale on Saturday, October 22, at 10 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time. The tickets can only be purchased through the Ticketmaster website.
