George Strait’s new single is a tip of the hat to Mexico’s finest export, tequila. Dubbed “Código,” the bouncy, two-stepping tune was co-written by Strait with his son Bubba Strait and songwriter Dean Dillon.

With lyrics like, “I’m talkin’ ’bout Código I take it with me everywhere I go / Best tequila, baby, don’t you know / A little sip and you’re ready to roll / They make it down in Mexico / A little state called Jalisco / Where the beautiful agaves grow / I’m talkin’ ’bout Código,” the song automatically transports listeners to a sunny locale south of the border toasting to good times ahead.

The lyrics don’t just pay tribute to tequila itself, they’re an ode to Strait’s own brand of the liquor, Código 1530.

“Código” is the lead track from Strait’s upcoming record Honky Tonk Time Machine. According to Rolling Stone, the legendary performer announced the news during his Friday night (12/7) Strait to Vegas show, while also debuting the new tracks “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” and “God and Country Music.” The project is expected sometime in 2019.

The song is Strait’s first since his 2015 release, Cold Beer Conversation and 2016’s Strait Out Of The Box.
