Just like the rest of Music City continues to change, the Grand Ole Opry is getting some major upgrades to its whole set-up by the end of the year.

The famous country music stage will undergo a $12 million renovation to create a new space for both the box office and retail shop. Adding onto the historic experience of witnessing a show at the Opry, the box office portion of the facility will now feature a cinematic extra for fans all around the world to enjoy once they finish their tours or show.

The shop itself will provide more than just merchandise for visitors; 5,000 square feet of bonus room will allow for the space to house in-store signings and interactive activities for tourists to get involved with during their time visiting the venue.

“You’ll have a lot of customer experiences in the shop, interactive experiences and then on almost every night we have an Opry performance these days. We’ll do an in-store signing where some of country music’s most popular artists will sign their latest product either before or after the shows, so there will be more room for that sort of thing, and interactions with guests and artists who are playing the Opry show,” said the Grand Ole Opry’s director of marketing and communication, Dan Rogers, to WKRN.

Nevertheless, the construction won’t stop the Opry from doing its country music thing by hosting three shows to the public every week. The backstage tours will also continue to occur, with no worry of any construction getting in the way.

“We’re continuing with shows at least three nights a week,” said Rogers. “We just added some second shows for various days in March due to customer demands so life’s good.”

The renovation project is expected to be finished sometime between mid-October and the later winter months.
