Remember When Hillary Scott’s Mom, Linda Davis, Performed a Duet with Reba?

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum isn’t the only accomplished artist in her family. Her mother, Linda Davis, hit the top of the country charts in 1993 with the ballad “Does He Love You,” a duet with the legendary Reba McEntire.

The award-winning track tells the tale of two women that are in love with the same man. McEntire is portrayed as the man’s wife, while Davis plays the role of the “other woman.” Throughout the song, they go back-and-forth questioning the others’ relationship with the man and show obvious signs of jealousy through the lyrics.

The cinematic music video that accompanies “Does He Love You,” has become a classic and is straight out of the 90s (big hair and all!).

Throughout the video, each woman steals glances from the same man until McEntire finally catches Davis and her video-husband in the act. The final scene comes to a surprise ending when McEntire disrupts her husband and his mistress’ day on the boat by blowing it up. But there’s a little twist…it was all being filmed for what appears to be a movie.

“Does He Love You” was a huge commercial success for McEntire and Davis. It reached No. 1 on the country airplay charts, and remains the only chart-topping single of Davis’ career. The ballad also went on to win a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration as well as a CMA trophy for Vocal Event of the Year.

Davis has not released any country music recently, but was a part of Love Remains, the gospel album Hillary Scott released with her family in 2016.
