Jason Derulo is known in the pop music scene for platinum-selling sings like “Wiggle,” “In My Head” and “Whatcha Say,” but the singer may be looking to broaden his horizons, specifically to the country world.

Derulo’s relationship with country music began in 2015 when Luke Bryan used the Sing! Karaoke app by Smule to remotely collaborate on Derulo’s hit “Want to Want Me.” Fans went crazy over the video, and the two ended up paring up for an episode of CMT Crossroads.

Their Crossroads performance of “Want to Want Me” earned the two a CMT Music Award award for “Performance of the Year.” Derulo even came back to Nashville for a mashup of Bryan’s “Strip it Down” and “Want to Want Me” on the awards show.

“To be kind of inducted as one of the cousins– it’s really fly, and I continue to do more in this world because it’s a passion of mine and I really do enjoy it,” Derulo said during rehearsals for the show.

As a newfound family member, Derulo will be keeping up the ‘family tradition’ by collaborating with Hank Williams Jr. and Florida Georgia Line for a new Monday Night Football theme song.

“The country audience has embraced me, so I intend on embracing them to the fullest. Definitely expect more from that area. Country is something I love. I’m probably going to get a house in Nashville and do a bunch more s–t in that world. It’s calling me. And it’s also something I am obsessed with,” Derulo told Rolling Stone recently.

Jason Derulo is not the only pop artist who has expressed interest in crossing over to the country side of the tracks. Ariana Grande shared that her late grandfather always wanted her to “do something in the country world.” She does not know if she will ever make that happen, but she is definitely open to any opportunities that may come along.
