Jordan Davis just hit the country music scene with his first release, “Singles You Up,” and is ready for the world to hear more of his sound.

Channeling similar themes to that of “Singles You Up,” Davis wanted to counterbalance the upbeat tempo with other songs that show off his repertoire on his debut album. Trying to show off all sides of his personality, the country newcomer hopes that he shines a light on the more personal side of him through his music.

“There’s definitely some other stuff like ‘Singles You Up’ on there. We have a song on there called ‘More Than I Know,’ which is really kind of fun, kind of in the ‘Singles You Up’ vein. A song called ‘Take it From Me,’ that’s on the record that I love to play out. But then there’s some other stuff on there, like the airplane song is called ‘Leaving New Orleans.’ I have a song on there called ‘Don’t Do Lonely Well.’ It’s probably the newest song on the record that I really dig, and I think it’s a really good song. It’s definitely a good introduction to the sound and the production of the record, but there’s definitely going to be some heavier songs on there as well,” Davis said to Sounds Like Nashville about his upcoming project.

As a Louisiana native, Davis sticks to those classic Southern sounds while also embodying the music he was raised on. Combining the best of jazz and twang, Davis creates his own unique style that still roots itself in the country music format.

“I grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, so we’re 20 minutes from the Texas line,” Davis explained. “I have a bunch of family in Texas. My mom is from Jacksonville, Texas, and they kind of have that traditional country background, as opposed to my dad, who’s from Okolona, Mississippi, right next door to where Elvis was born in Tupelo. He kind of has that bluesy, Mississippi kind of feel. Then, being in Louisiana, you have that jazz, kind of blues background. Shreveport, with the Louisiana Hayride, the musical history of the city is so rich. It was a cool way to grow up and listen to such different kinds of music. It’s influenced me a ton. It’s one of those things where you can’t get away from it. It’s been pretty cool to see it resurface now. I feel like we’ve done a good job of capturing this in the record.”

Davis’ current single, “Singles You Up,” is available now.
