Grammy-winning Golden Hour star Kacey Musgraves is branching out with a new side-gig that highlights her eclectic sense of style. She’s signed a modeling contract with IMG Models, confirming the news via Twitter on Tuesday (May 7th) while making a splash at the glitzy 2019 Met Gala in New York City.

IMG is a modeling agency based in New York which represents some of the biggest names on the runway, including influential tastemakers like Karlie Kloss and Bella and Gigi Hadid.

At the Met Gala, Musgraves showed up with a striking life-size Barbie look, complete with a pink leather trench coat, pink blow dryer accessory and platinum-blonde hair. She even arrived to the fundraising gala in a Barbie-pink convertible, and her after-party look was just as intense – featuring a gem-incrusted gold skirt jacket and a giant black pony tail.

If you’re wondering what’s up with the crazy outfits, don’t be concerned. Musgraves fit right in at the gala – and her look was actually pretty tame compared to what some of the others in attendance wore. Each year the fashion industry gathers to hobnob in front of the media and raise money for New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, and each year there is a theme which guests base their style on. This year extreme excess was on the table for “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” and attendees like film and music star Jared Leto went all out, arriving in a bejewel red gown with a realistic-looking copy of his own head under his arm.

Musgraves’ Barbie look doesn’t seem so strange anymore, does it! The newly-minted model is currently on the road for her Oh, What a World Tour, with dates in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, the Dominican Republic and Mexico on the schedule through November.
