Kacey Musgraves Debuts ‘Rainbow’ at C2C Festival

Kacey Musgraves found her pot of gold at the end of the ‘Rainbow,’ when fans went crazy over the live debut of her new track.

In preparation for her fourth album, Golden Hour, hitting shelves soon, the country songstress gave the international audience a sneak preview at what’s to come for her highly anticipated project. Just as always, Musgraves used her cheeky perspective on life to turn the negative into a positive for the story of “Rainbow.”

She sings, “The sky is finally open, the rain and wind stopped blowin’ / But you’re stuck out in the same old storm again / Hold tight to your umbrella, darlin’ I’m just tryin’ to tell ya / That there’s always been a rainbow hangin’ over your head,” as an optimistic message to spread to all listeners.

During the performance, she let fans know via Twitter that “Rainbow” was her grandmother’s favorite song on the record and that meant a great deal to Musgraves. From that opinion alone, she knew she needed to include it on this personal collection of songs.

“’Rainbow’ will be on the new album March 30th. I love this song so much. Was my Memaw’s favorite before she passed and we played it at her funeral. It’s for anyone with any kind of weight on their shoulders,” she said on social media.

In previous interviews about Golden Hour, Musgraves admitted that this time around involves a lot more love songs than in the past. Inspired by her husband, Ruston Kelly, the Texas native just felt inclined to write about how happy she is in love and how the feeling changed her take on relationships within songwriting.

Golden Hour will be released on Friday, March 30.
