The past year has been a life-changing one for rising country star Kane Brown. Not only did the singer come out the gate strong with with a No.1 album, but he also earned two chart-topping singles from that same project. Additionally, the singer earned his first accolade in the form of a CMT Music Award when he won for Collaborative Video of the Year with Lauren Alaina on their duet “What Ifs.”

Now, the singer will enter into the next chapter of his career with the lead single from his upcoming sophomore album. Released during the 2018 CMA Music Festival, “Lose It” is the perfect step into summer and one that Brown hopes fans will enjoy.

“‘Lose It’ to me is just a fun summer song. I feel like it’s very different,” explained Brown during a press conference at Nissan Stadium. “It’s got a little fiddle that we didn’t have on the debut album at all or any of my music I’ve ever released. And then we have like a Lynyrd Skynyrd sounding guitar on there, so to me it’s just a very fun song. It has a bunch of different melodies that … I mean, my main go-to was every time I go in a country club, I always see people two stepping to all these types of music. So, I feel like it’s a song you can just get in two step to.”

Taking the leap and releasing new music is a huge step for the Georgia native, who will follow “Lose It” with a full-length project in November. The thought of following his successful self-titled debut is a stressful one, he admits, but one he’s focused on getting right.

“It’s very scary because I felt like my debut album did better than what I expected,” he shared. “So, now for this to be my second album, I feel like I have to top that, and it’s making me grow as an artist, which I love, but it’s also making me a lot more picky. I sang these songs that’s on my last debut for over a year now, so if I’m going to sing these next ones for over a year, I want them to be special to me or just be fun at least for the crowd. I’m really just working my tail off trying to get these songs good.”

Fans might get a taste of what’s to come from the unnamed project when they catch Brown out on the road as he’s been testing some of the new tracks with his band.

“[We’ve] done two or three of them out on the road. There’s one called ‘Weekend’ that’s very different [and] honestly gets the crowd going more than any song other than the ones that they know.”
