Rising country star Kassi Ashton proved that good things come to those who wait, as she finally dropped a vibrant, entertaining music video for her stellar single “Violins” on Wednesday (2/13).

First released on Jan. 25, the track is all about Ashton shutting down the second-chance efforts of unfaithful exes. She lives out the song’s empowering lyrics in the new video by constantly rejecting an annoyingly lovesick suitor in various settings like hallways lined with lockers or a school gymnasium.

“Visuals are so important to me because that’s the way I understand and explain everything in my life,” Ashton said in a press release. “It is no different with my music.”

Directed by Kristin Barlowe, the video also showcases the Missouri native’s wicked dance skills as she performs complex majorette routines. Ashton also gets a chance to show off her inner fashionista, sporting stylish marching band and other high school-inspired outfits that she hand-made herself.

“When I allowed my brain to think of all the possibilities of what this video could look like, a million ideas soaked in red light came out,” said Ashton. “Kristin Barlowe, in all her magic, and her entire team perfectly translated my thoughts to the screen.”
