Keith Urban and Chris Janson Join Forces on ’90s Classic
Combining their musical forces, Keith Urban and Chris Janson performed "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," originally recorded by John Michael Montgomery.
You never know what’s going to happen on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and that held true Tuesday evening (Oct. 10) when Keith Urban and Chris Janson were on the star-studded lineup.
Combining their musical forces for an epic ’90s number, Urban and Janson performed their own rendition of “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident),” originally recorded by John Michael Montgomery. The track, written by Richard Fagan and Robb Royer, was a multi-week No.1 in 1995 and is one of Montgomery’s best-known hits.
Before stepping into the circle, Urban and Janson rehearsed the song on Keith’s bus, and lucky for fans, someone captured it on video and later posted it to Urban’s Instagram.
In the the clip, the pair sing the fast-paced tune while strumming guitars and appear to be having a grand ole time together. Things really get interesting when Janson busts out his harmonica as Urban begins to laugh uncontrollably as Janson does his thing.

The two later brought their performance to the country music’s most famous stage for all to see.
Urban and Janson were in good company at the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday. Also on the bill was Brooks & Dunn and Maddie & Tae.
