When Keith Urban needed some background vocal help on his new single, “Female,” he looked no further than the most important woman in his life: his wife, Nicole Kidman.

Most people know Kidman as more of an actress in the entertainment industry, but Urban enlisted her soothing voice to coo over the tracking of the tune to bring even more of a personal importance than the empowering message. Kidman joined in on the recording alongside songwriter and fellow musician Nicolle Galyon for girl power teamwork.

“I thought it was nice and very personal to blend these girls into the song because it just felt very, very right and that’s what the song means to me,” Urban told The Associated Press prior to the CMA Awards.

“Female” comes at such a poignant time, too, for girls everywhere as scandals and inappropriate incidents have been coming out of the woodworks recently. The country singer hoped to find a positive light within the midst of the pessimists and skeptics who continue to engage in sexist behavior.

“I heard the song more as a, almost like a soul gospel, spiritual mantra,” Urban explained. “Particularly the chorus of the song is absolutely pure celebration of female. It’s beautiful.”

Debuting the track out everywhere for fans to listen prior to the 51st Annual CMA Awards, Urban also played “Female” as his performance piece for the awards show in a impactful way. As he sang aloud the courageous words and titles given to ladies everywhere, the validating lyrics highlighted behind him while giving the full brave effect.

With the introduction of “Female,” fans may be wondering about new music on the way, in which Urban did not comment on the matter.

“Female” is out to stream on digital services and purchase through online retailers.
