Rather than go through the stereotypical couch-to-desk interview, Chelsea Handler took a unique approach to her recent interview with Kelsea Ballerini.

Chatting with the rising country star over a multi-course meal consisting of chicken nuggets and a glass of rosé, the two taste-tested chicken nuggets from different fast-food restaurants and grocery stores to find the best nugget. For Ballerini, the guilty pleasure came forward as she admitted her close-tied relationship to chicken nuggets.

“I feel like chicken nuggets are my love language. I don’t know if you knew that or not,” Ballerini admitted to the comedian with a straight face.

Presented on a fancy silver platter by an actual chicken nugget man, Ballerini and Handler gorged on bite-sized pieces from joints like Burger King, KFC, Chick-Fil-A, Popeye’s and many more. Although the country singer tried to keep her composure and Southern politeness, Handler got her laughing quite a bit with her bitter sarcasm and hilarious wit.

Handler even poked fun at the notion that country music needs a song about ranch dressing and how she always wishes chicken nuggets were a part of getting a side while eating out rather than an entrée, which Ballerini delightfully agreed. The pair even joked over how much of a ‘dad bod’ Blake Shelton has and that he looks very similar to Ballerini’s own father despite their somewhat facial differences.

But it was her love of McDonald’s famous McNuggets that got Ballerini hype about their whole meetup because it’s always been the “Peter Pan” singer’s favorite.

Ballerini visited the show to promote her new album, Unapologetically, which features new songs like “Legends,” “I Hate Love Songs” and even the infectious title track all about love.

Unapologetically is available everywhere now.
