Kelsea Ballerini Kicks Off CMA Awards Day with ‘GMA’ Performance

Gearing up for “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” Kelsea Ballerini started her day off bright and early with a performance on a rooftop in downtown Nashville for Good Morning America.

Ballerini brought a sparkle to the rather gray day in Music City in a silver number and thigh-high boots while belting out the words to a of couple new tracks off her sophomore record, Unapologetically. The energetic crowd danced around all morning long as the country singer rocked the house with “Roses” and the title track off the album, which started as a girl power anthem and turned into a love song as told by Ballerini.

She even took a couple minutes between her set to talk about what Unapologetically means to her, and why she moved forward with the positive messages of love on the record.

“To me, ‘Unapologetically’ just means leading with your heart,” Ballerini said, before happily bragging about winning an “award” by getting the opportunity to sing with Reba during the CMA Awards.

Taking on the role of co-host for a hot second, Ballerini even helped announce the winners for the Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year, which went to “It Ain’t My Fault” by Brothers Osborne and “Funny How Time Slips Away” by the late Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson respectively.

Ballerini continues to have the best week of her life with a number of milestones popping up throughout the past couple days. With releasing Unapologetically out to fans everywhere and earning the ASCAP Vanguard Award for her songwriting at the ASCAP Awards on Monday night, Ballerini can’t help but feel like she’s on top of the world in her career.

The 51st Annual CMA Awards air live from Nashville tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
