Little Big Town Opens 2018 CMT Music Awards with Feel-Good Single ‘Summer Fever’
Little Big Town were on double duty at the 2018 CMT Awards, both with hosting duties and performing their new single "Summer Fever."
Little Big Town kicked off the 2018 CMT Music Awards with the live debut of their brand new song, “Summer Fever.” The feel-good ’70s throwback featured the quartet’s mesmerizing vocals alongside breezy musical accompaniment that allowed the song to shine.
While Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman looked stunning in colorful rompers, bandmates Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook stood beside them with their guitars in hand. Fairchild impressed on lead vocals, dancing alongside husband Westbrook, as the rest of the band assisted on harmonies for a memorable start to the show. Throughout their performance, Little Big Town successfully brought the summer vibe to the audience at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena as confetti engulfed the stage at the close of the song.
Fairchild co-wrote the infectious summer anthem with Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, and Sam Romans. “Summer Fever” was co-produced by Frasure and Shane McAnally, who both raved about the song upon its release.
“I dare you to sit still when this song comes on…it’s impossible,” McAnally said of the track. “I don’t even dance, but something comes over me when this thing kicks in. I can’t wait for the world to catch ‘Summer Fever.’”
Frasure adds, “It’s always amazing when a song seems to just wait for its own perfect timing.. Getting the chance to bring this song to life in the writing room with my co-writers, and through the opportunity to co-produce with my friend Shane McAnally has been a dream come true. I can’t wait to hear this song coming out of a rolled down window this summer.”
In addition to performing at the awards show, Little Big Town is hosting the 2018 CMT Music Awards, which is broadcast live from downtown Nashville.
