CMA Music Festival is an intense week for fans and artists alike. From the early hours of the morning to the wee hours of the night, both are going hard to make sure they are fit in every activity possible. Sometimes, however, being on the go can take a toll, and singers like Luke Combs have to pay the price.

After a rousing set on night two of the festival, the singer revealed that upon walking offstage, he’d completely lost his voice. Thanks to the advice of doctors, Combs deemed it best to take ten days off for vocal rest, which also meant having to unfortunately disappoint fans.

“To all of my fans: I am devastated over this, but unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to play for y’all this weekend or next because I’ve lost my voice. After I got off stage last night at CMA Fest, I had completely lost my voice. I’ve powered through plenty of shows before, but with how my voice sounds and feels today, I couldn’t possibly give y’all the show you paid for and deserve,” he wrote in part on Instagram.

“This morning, I saw my doctors and we’ve got a plan of vocal rest and treatments for the next 10 days so I can be back with y’all as quickly as possible,” he continued. “It kills me to have to do this. Y’all are the reason I get on stage every night.”

While the news was devastating to both Combs and his fans, many wrote their well wishes in the comments, including one from fellow artist Jason Aldean.

“It happens man. The fans know we aren’t robots. we get sick too! Take care of that voice because u got a long career ahead of ya and alot more shows to play,” he wrote.

Combs’ next scheduled dates include stops in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and more.
