Third time is most definitely the charm for Luke Combs as the singer just locked down his third No. 1 single with “One Number Away” rising to the top of the charts.

Known as one of the most special songs in Combs’ collection, the track captured the hearts of many listeners and kept growing in popularity according to both the Mediabase and Billboard Country Airplay charts. Just in time for the celebration that is CMA Music Festival, Combs can’t wait to share the moment with his fans in real time.

“What’s up guys?! I just wanna say thanks for giving me and the guys our 3rd No. 1 song with “One Number Away.” Couldn’t do it without yall. Can’t wait to see you at Crossroads, the CMT Awards, the Opry and CMA Fest. See you guys in Nashville this week. Should be fun,” he tweeted out to his followers after hearing the news.

The song came about in a different way for Combs, which he never expected to turn into one of his favorite additions to his debut record. Nevertheless, the singer finds himself thankful that he teamed up with writers who took an alternative approach to creating songs and wound up with a hit like “One Number Away.”

“Steven is such an incredible melody guy and he said, ‘Hey I’ve got this melody thing I really like.’ He started humming that chorus of the song and we just kind of sat there and Steven had this cool chorus melody and Sammy built the track and so I have never done, never written with a track guy. I didn’t know that was a thing and so it actually turned out being pretty cool and it ended up becoming one of my favorite songs on the record,” Combs revealed to Sounds Like Nashville and other media during a previous event.

Combs will appear on a special version of CMT Crossroads with Leon Bridges, airing on Thursday, June 28, at 10 p.m. EST on CMT.
