“I think that's the whole value in the creative process and being a songwriter, being a musician, is being truly authentic and honest to who you are and how you see the world," Pell told SLN.

When people hear the name Luke Pell, they automatically shift gears to the scenes they saw on The Bachelorette a couple season ago when he was trying to win the heart and the final rose from his dream girl. But what they may not realize, and will soon come to find, is that Pell’s first love is country music through and through.

The singer/songwriter moved to Nashville just a handful of years ago to pursue his dream of making music full-time. In the process of signing a deal and getting himself into the entertainment industry, he opened a door up to the opportunity of appearing on The Bachelorette and made his way to the final episode. Unfortunately for him, he ended up as the runner-up on the season and traveled back home to pick up the pieces. Thanks to music though, Pell used his experience as a form of inspiration.

Looking back on the most emotional times of his life from growing up in Texas to heading out to war as a soldier in the U.S. Army, Pell was compelled to remember the moments by way of personal songs. He depended on his happy and sad memories to create his introduction into country music and put everything together in the form of an EP filled with heartbreak, life lessons and more.

“We’ve got some songs on there that are a nod to my military ties and talking about the all-American life that I was fortunate enough to grow up back down in Texas and there’s some nostalgic elements to a couple of the songs. Like a lot of other projects, there’s falling in and out of love and life lessons. I’ve got a song called ‘Loved and Lost’ and it’s on there. That song, it’s just really a testament to the things that come in and out of your life that were a big part of your life but they’re not anymore. That song was big for me. I just really feel like the stories and the lyrics in these songs mean a lot to who I am. We’re excited for it to be out and for our fans to get a picture of where I come from and what I’m about,” Pell told Sounds Like Nashville during an interview.

With the dedication of music set at his forefront, some fans didn’t appreciate what they viewed as an abandonment from the persona he created on reality television. As Pell looks at it though, he finds comfort in the people who know him well and the music he puts his soul into rather than the rumors churning out in the tabloids.

“It’s funny when you get into being in the public eye, especially your personal life, people then are very critical of you and they’re looking through a very small window into your life. They want to make a big judgment on your life through a small window, which is just the reality of that whole life situation, and being in the public eye like that. I think, whatever, it’s part of it. I’m okay with it. I completely am grounded in who I am as a person and I’m not affected by the criticism,” he admitted.

Regardless of what negativity came his way, Pell knows his EP will represent the person he wants to be and what he stands for due to his genuine outlook and truth-telling in every song featured on the project.

“I think that’s the whole value in the creative process and being a songwriter, being a musician, is being truly authentic and honest to who you are and how you see the world, it comes out,” Pell told SLN. “We owe that to the fans. We owe that to the people that listen to what we put out and we owe that to ourselves.”

Along with the new music, fans of Pell can see him get into some crazy situations on the first-ever season of Bachelor Winter Games premiering on ABC this February. As Pell continues to show his true personality through his music, he also revealed that this show will display a sillier side never seen before.

Pell’s EP is available everywhere now.
