Maren Morris tiptoes the line between a number of genres and next summer, she’ll dip into the pop world as she embarks on a world tour with One Direction member Niall Horan.

After recently announcing his Flicker World Tour 2018, Horan decided to break outside of his pop music boundaries to invite Morris to join along as the opening act for his solo tour. The two will jet off to cities all throughout the U.S., as well as Australia, New Zealand and Canada to perform in front of thousands of fans after the release of Horan’s debut solo record.

“It’s happening!!!! @NiallOfficial and I will see you next year,” Morris wrote on Twitter alongside the tour promo announcement.

While the announcement may have come as a shock to country fans, Horan and Morris developed a working relationship and friendship while teaming up for a duet that will be featured on his anticipated record, due out on October 20. Horan also expressed his interest in her music in a Twitter exchange a few months ago when he admitted he loved her track, “I Could Use a Love Song.”

The One Direction guys seem to have found a liking to country music as it’s not just Horan who will bring someone from the format to his touring lineup. His former colleague and fellow pop artist, Harry Styles, made the bold move of hosting Kacey Musgraves on his own 2018 World Tour.

At the moment, Morris is finishing up her whirlwind year by wrapping up the 15 in a 30 Tour with Sam Hunt and Chris Janson before heading across the pond for a handful of dates in the U.K. and Ireland. She also snagged herself a couple 51st Annual CMA Awards nominations in the Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.

The Flicker World Tour 2018 will officially kick off in Auckland, New Zealand, on June 1, 2018, with the U.S. dates starting in Houston, Texas, on July 18, 2018.
