Miranda Lambert and Boyfriend Anderson East Slam Garth Brooks for Lip Syncing at the CMA Awards

Shortly after being crowned Entertainer of the Year on Wednesday (Nov. 8), Garth Brooks revealed that he lip synced his way through his performance at the 51st Annual CMA Awards, and Miranda Lambert and her boyfriend, singer/songwriter Anderson East, aren’t happy about it.
Late Thursday (Nov. 9), East took to Instagram to sound-off on Brooks’ lip syncing.
“I keep a lot of my opinions to myself and respect anyone making music but as a person who tries to put on the best and most honest show I can night after night… this truly offends me,” he shared. “I was told country music is three chords and the truth.”
Hundreds of comments flooded the post, including one from Lambert.
“High Five on this babe.✋🏻if you can’t sing then don’t,” she wrote. “It’s better to be honest than to pretend. I think it’s bull shit. My favorite performances in the show were live live. The truth.”
The couple’s comments come less than 24 hours after Brooks sang Lambert’s praises backstage at the CMAs.
“Let me tell you who fought the good fight tonight in my opinion… Miranda Lambert,” he told Sounds Like Nashville and other reporters. “She’s one of few females that we play, so you’d think she’d want to play it safe. She came out and she stuck country music in all of our faces tonight. Traditional country music. So she’s fighting the good fight.”
Brooks made a last minute decision to lip sync his performance due to vocal issues he was experiencing from playing 12 shows in a matter of 10 days. The superstar is scheduled to perform in Spokane, Washington throughout the weekend.
