Instead of playing the uninvolved groom-to-be, Morgan Evans decided to put his two cents into the mix when it came to planning his upcoming nuptials to Kelsea Ballerini.

Although the Australian native let his future bride choose details regarding the décor and color scheme, he wanted a say in the elements he cares most about. Not looking for any surprises on that special day, Evans just hopes everything comes together with his stamp of approval before the time nears.

“I think everyone’s kind of got it under control…It’s gonna be a great day,” Evans gushed to Sounds Like Nashville and other media during a recent interview.

The important things for Evans revolved around two subjects he remains passionate about: food and music. Giving his input to the planning process allowed Evans to help choose what guests will be eating and hopefully select the perfect wedding playlist and song for his first dance with Ballerini.

“I was very involved in the food, to take a leaf from Brantley [Gilbert]‘s book there. So the food’s gonna be awesome. And the music of course, picking the songs and stuff, which we still haven’t really nailed down. That’s a conversation that’s still going,” Evans explained.

With the big day approaching quickly, Evans has come to terms with talking about his romance with Ballerini as a part of his career. While the couple doesn’t let their love overshadow their respective careers, Evans accepts the idea of being open to answering any questions about his fiancée because he gains a sense of pride from being her man.

“I always think it’s funny, there’s a few key lines that people say, ‘And we have to talk about the elephant in the room.’ Are you calling Kelsea an elephant? The other one is, ‘You probably don’t like to talk about it, we should probably…’ I’m like no, I’m pretty proud of this, this is awesome. So yeah, I’m totally fine with it. And as I said before, the fact that she talks about it so openly means I don’t have a choice. Which actually makes it far more relaxing to me to not have to kind of hold anything back,” Evans said of his relationship status being so spread throughout the public eye.

Evans’ first single put out to American radio, “Kiss Somebody,” can be heard on Spotify and iTunes now.
