When Morgan Wallen moved to Nashville to accomplish his dream of making it in the country music industry, he documented his struggles and triumphs within the new tracks on his forthcoming debut.

Rather than compiling a list of random songs to complete the tracklist, Wallen relied on everything he’s been through over the past handful of years to develop into his album, If I Know Me. With inspiration aplenty at his fingertips, he recreated the path he’s been on during his time as an artist and represents his growth through the entire project.

“I think the whole album, I just wanted to put a lot of different things. I wanted it to be diverse and different sounds, different meanings, different feelings. I wanted it to be that way because I love a lot of different music. I love a lot of different sounds. And I’m not always happy ‘Up Down’ mood. There’s things that whatever it is, is just life. In the past three years, I’ve kinda just been on a little journey so I wanted the album to be the same way,” Wallen said to Sounds Like Nashville in an interview.

Specifically, a song close to Wallen’s heart is the title track, in which he details a situation with a sense of overconfidence that he admits anyone could find themselves in. Nevertheless, the singer can’t wait to hear the response from fans about that track.

“I think there’s the title track is a song that I’m really looking forward to seeing what people think. It’s a song that’s different from the rest of them. It’s a wild card song, I guess you would say. And it’s got a whole different feel than anything else I’ve ever done. So, I’m definitely interested in seeing what people think about it,” Wallen explained.

If I Know Me by Wallen will hit shelves on Friday, April 27.
