Old Dominion’s New Single ‘Make it Sweet’ Encourages Listeners to Make the Most of Life and Love

Old Dominion knows not every day is easy, but they’re encouraging listeners to be thankful for what they have in their bouncy new tune “Make It Sweet.” The love song nudges everyone to “make lemonade out of lemons” and make the most of the time they’re here on earth–especially with that special someone.

“Cause I’m stuck on you, you’re stuck on me / I never gotta wonder where my honey be / I ain’t savin’ all my sugar for a Saturday night / Seven days a week, I got an appetite,” lead singer Matthew Ramsey sings in the chorus. “Sunset’s like a tangerine / Let’s find a road we’ve never seen / Don’t waste another mile or a minute not kissin’ me / Life is short, make it sweet.”

The track is the lead single from Old Dominion’s upcoming third studio album and came pouring out during a single writing session.

“We walked into the studio one day without discussing what we wanted the next step for our band to be. The plan was to write a song and record it on that same day. What happened was something we could never have planned,” wrote the group in a collective statement to Instagram. “The words fell out and the next thing we knew, we had recorded ‘Make It Sweet.’ It’s raw and natural and 100 percent us. We are so proud and grateful to have the opportunity to share such a meaningful moment with the world.”

Old Dominion will keep the theme of making it sweet as they bring their music to fans with their 2019 Make It Sweet Arena Tour.
