Tim McGraw isn’t the only country singer in his marriage whose résumé includes acting. His wife, Faith Hill, made her debut on the big screen when she played “the perfect housewife” in the 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives.
The film documents a town where the women seem entirely too blissful at all times. New resident Joanna Eberhart, played by Nicole Kidman, grows suspicious and discovers that the wives are not actually women, but instead robots created by men to portray what they think the perfect wife should be. Hill plays a featured robot-wife, Sarah Sunderson.
The point where this all comes to fruition is due to one of Hill’s most memorable scenes. Kidman’s character, along with two of her suspecting friends, sneaks into Sarah’s home to find that she is doing exactly what her husband is wanting. While they are looking around, they hear her coming down the stairs and have to hide, only to find a remote control with “Sarah” etched into it.
“It’s very vocal,” Hill says of the scene. “I remember I’m sitting here, and I had forgotten that I had to do that. So as everyone’s reading their part, I realize, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m gonna have to sit here next to Glenn and Nicole and everybody, and do this! How am I gonna do this?’ But I did it. I thought, ‘What do I have to lose? I’m here, I’ve gotten the part, I’m just gonna have to go for it.’”
While playing with the remote, they discover they can control Hill’s character’s movements, along with her body proportion sizes. While messing around with the buttons they accidentally send her flying backwards as the plot unfoils.
Hill has continued to make her mark in movies. Beyond her Stepford Wives role, she starred in the critically-acclaimed independent film Dixieland.
Today (Sept. 21) is also the actress/country star’s 50th birthday! Her doting husband took to Instagram to share his love and birthday sentiment.
“Happy birthday to the most beautiful girl in the world,” he stated. “You are the most remarkable person that has ever been in my life…Our daughters could not have a better role model. I am truly in love with you more everyday. Can’t wait to see what ‘the rest of our life’ has in store for us.”
