Ryan Hurd Details Maren Morris’ Custom Engagement Ring
"I couldn't just buy something. I had to make it something that fit her," said Hurd.
When Ryan Hurd decided to ‘put a ring on it,’ he and Maren Morris took a couple days to revel in their news before sharing it with the world. Upon their announcement, Morris shared several photos of her new sparkler, a ring her hubby-to-be designed himself.
“I know what she likes and I had somebody in Canada put it together. The stone is from New York City, it’s from an uncut diamond, and then the rest of it’s cast just custom for her,” Hurd told Entertainment Tonight of her bling. “I couldn’t just buy something. I had to make it something that fit her.”
Seeing the ring and having her love make a promise for life was overwhelming for the “My Church” singer, who shared that the tears were flowing during his picture perfect proposal.
“Oh, I sobbed. I mean it was so emotional and so perfect,” Morris said. “He’s a very thoughtful human being, and I feel like the proposal was just as thoughtful as he always is. So it was perfect.”
Hurd had been toting the ring around for some time before deciding that a weekend at his family’s house in Michigan was the ideal moment to pop the question.
“I had had that [ring] in my pocket for a while, and I was just looking for a good time. I woke up on the 3rd and I said to myself that that was the day,” he recently explained. “But there was no point where we were alone together, and so we jumped in the boat and had about 20 minutes together. It was really special. It was a beautiful night and there weren’t a lot of people on the water. It was July 3, so there were fireworks all around the lake and I told her I bought all those fireworks just for her.”
While the couple does not have a wedding date on the books, they are “honing in on the springtime, before we kick off our tours again,” shared Morris.
Both Morris and Hurd will spend the rest of the year out on the road with Morris wrapping her time on Sam Hunt’s 15 in a 30 Tour and beginning her own headlining Hero Tour, where Hurd will be joining her as a special guest.
