Recently named iHeartCountry’s next On The Verge artist, emerging singer and songwriter Tenille Townes dropped a new song, “White Horse” on Friday (3/1).

The track is on her upcoming debut album, which is due later in 2019. She wrote the song with Daniel Tashian and Jeremy Spillman, with Jay Joyce serving as the producer.

“Yeah, the way that I saw it my true love would come calling, tossing pebbles out the window of my ivory tower,” Townes sings in the first verse over a driving drumbeat and buzzing guitars. Track masterfully blends country pop with elements of southern rock, with Townes’ powerful vocals and sassy delivery turning it into something truly special.

“’White Horse’ is a song about how love can look a little bit differently than we might expect it to,” the Canada native said in a press release. “I think we grow up in our society completely surrounded by that fairy tale idea of what love should be, but maybe love is even bigger than that.”

Townes is currently supporting Dierks Bentley on his Burning Man Tour where she will play shows across the U.S. and Canada. She will also perform in the international CMA: Introducing Nashville series in March as well as the 2019 iHeartCountry Festival in May.
