Thomas Rhett, Kelsea Ballerini Excited to Return as ‘CMA Fest’ Hosts
Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini are back as the hosts for ABC's 'CMA Fest' special for the second consecutive year.
For the second consecutive year, Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini were front and center for the 2018 CMA Music Festival as hosts for the upcoming ABC television special. The two have come a long way since their hosting gig of 2017 and were thrilled to return for yet another spectacular year.
While the budding superstars were naturals during their inaugural year, they looked back on it as a training session and were even embarrassed by their technique.
“Me and Kelsea were in the dress room the other night watching our intros back from last year and we just were both embarrassed at ourselves the entire time. I was yelling the entire time and her hand was just moving the entire time and so we get better at it every year,” Rhett said with a laugh while chatting with Sounds Like Nashville and other media backstage in Nissan Stadium.

“It’s kind of always been a dream of mine to do TV or just to act in any form or fashion so it’s been really cool to get out here and hopefully do a good job hosting the CMA fest. Glad they keep asking us back,” he concluded.
Equally as excited to return was Ballerini, who is as much of a fan girl as she is an artist. The opportunity to what the artists she grew up with is one she couldn’t pass up.
“It’s so fun,” she shared of hosting. “I feel like it gets you more involved in the whole CMA Fest, and for me personally, just to be able to introduce someone, and then watch them. It keeps us here all four nights, and we get to watch our friends and watch our heroes, and I’m a fan girl to the core, y’all know this about me, and just to be able sit and watch, and soak it up every night’s super cool.”
Thomas and Kelsea will get to see just how much they’ve grown with the ABC special CMA Fest airs on August 8 at 8/7c.
