Results nights are always stressful for both the contestants and the coaches on NBC’s The Voice, but as we roll into the final few weeks, the tension is even higher. In addition to the elimination of one of the talented singers, the November 27 show also included performances from Blake Shelton and his remaining Team Blake members, as well as Jennifer Hudson’s remaining Team J-Hud. The Comeback Stage’s coach, Kelsea Ballerini, also performed her new single, “Miss Me More.”

Before the cuts began though, host Carson Daly announced that young Reagan Strange was once again the most streamed of the artists on Apple Music in the overnight voting window.

And, in typical fashion, no time was wasted as the first two artists to continue on were announced. From Team J-Hud, 13-year-old Kennedy Holmes would continue on in the competition as would Team Kelly’s gospel girl, Kymberli Joye.

Blake and team members Dave Fenley, Kirk Jay, and Chris Kroeze then offered a bit of light in the weighty night with a toe-tapping performance of Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight.”

The second two artists that Carson announced were safe were Team Adam’s 14-year-old Reagan Strange and husky-voiced Chris Kroeze from Team Blake. Then, following Kelsea’s performance, Carson announced that America had also saved loyal country singer Kirk Jay of Team Blake and sweet soprano, MaKenzie Thomas of Team Jennifer.

Jennifer and her two remaining team members, Kennedy Holmes and MaKenzie Thomas took the stage next for a stunning version of Bette Midler’s “The Rose.”

With only five contestants left, Carson put three more artists through to the next round: bluesy Sarah Grace, and country girl Chevel Shepherd both of Team Kelly, and Team Blake’s gritty Dave Fenley.

That left Team Kelly’s “Comeback Kid,” Lynnea Moorer and Team Adam’s DeAndre Nico competing for an instant save to become part of the Top 10.

Lynnea was up first singing Ariana Grande’s “Tattooed Heart.” Following her performance, Kelly passionately spoke directly to the voters—“I have little nicknames for all of them, and she’s my fighter, y’all. She does this every week, she fights so hard to be here. I love her as not only a vocalist, but I love her as an artist. And I love what she represents on this show, so thank y’all so much for keeping her here so long. Thank you for keeping her here tonight. Y’all be with me, come on, vote Lynnea.”

DeAndre was the final performance of the night singing “Take Me to the King” by Tamela Mann. Afterward, Jennifer, who threw her shoe as a show of support, told the young man, “DeAndre, when you sing a song like that, you sing with a purpose and every single word, I could feel it, you meant that.” Adam then addressed the voters saying, “Does it feel right for this guy to go home? I’m really, really shocked that he’s even being considered as one of the bottom because I think he’s one of the top.”

In one of the most emotional nights of the season, the coaches shared their final thoughts. While Lynnea’s eyes sparkled with tears, Kelly told the audience, “I love her. She’s been one of my favorite contestants of any season to work with, only because she’s not just a talented vocalist, it’s more of like it’s fun to work a song with Lynnea.”

Adam then spoke to DeAndre saying, “You’ve been an incredible team member and I can’t even conceive the idea of you not being here because I just genuinely believe that this guy is one of the most talented singers on this show right now.”

With that, and with the requisite ominous music playing in the background, Carson announced that the instant save went to DeAndre Nico.

There are only two more weeks of performances before we roll into the live finales. Next week the remaining 10 drops to eight, and then it’s the semi-finals. Tune in!
