The uphill trek that Dierks Bentley took to create The Mountain required time and energy, but the view and the sound was worth the hard work taken.

Inspired by a songwriting retreat located in the wilderness of Colorado, Bentley and his crew felt so alive and let that spirit find its way into the sound and the lyrics on his latest album. Seeking out moments of self-discovery to configure the record into his most introspective collection yet, even the singer admitted to exploring all sides of his soul and exerting the vulnerability to reach his emotional goal.

“The album pulled me through the paces,” Bentley said of the project in an article posted by Entertainment Weekly. “[It] had its own dharma; it knew what it wanted to be. It was my job to just facilitate that process and stay out of the way.”
