Revealing the vulnerable yet relatable theme of the album track, Urban described “Habit of You” as something that struck a chord with him from the first time he heard it. Noting its significance coming to life within merely the first verse of the tune, Urban shows great happiness that the song could be included in his last catalogue of music he released out to the fans.
“Some songs for me just speak right from the very opening line. And this song, ‘I’m no stranger to the love of a lowly vice / drowned my liver and gambled with my pride,’ I know this person so well. So this song was really—it meant a lot to me. I’m glad we got to record it. I’m super glad it’s on this record,” Urban explained in a quick video clip about the track.
